Hooked at the very start!,

With a long list of books waiting to be read, I began reading it on a plane trip. The blurb sounded interesting and, at worst, I thought I'd just move on to the next if I didn't like it. WOW! This novel is unbelievably well written and a "can't put down" sort of story. The character descriptions are so excellent that I could envision them easily in my mind as I read through each chapter. Kudos to author Garth for her wonderful ways of creating the inhabitants of her story. It is indeed a gripping tale that sucks you in from the very first chapter, feeding you just enough at each juncture to keep you begging for more.

I'm going into Garth withdrawal already!

What a fun read! This story is a modern retelling of the Hades/Persephone story and reads a little like a myth in tone, but with modern situations, characters and problems (opportunities!). Normally I don't like a character that EVERYONE is drawn to, but for poor Persey, the draw of people... the need it gives them to confess their secrets, is such a heavy burden that she is sympathetic. I really liked the twists and turns and stayed engaged all the way through.

Timeless Test of Good Versus Evil,
"Losing Beauty" had me hooked from the first page; Johanna Garth knows how to tell a story. The pacing was steady--it never let up. The character development was good, and the story was engaging. I would put this book beside Stephen King's books on my bookshelf....
