About
The National Security Law Journal (NSLJ) is a student-edited legal periodical published twice annually at George Mason University School of Law in Arlington, Virginia. We print timely, insightful scholarship on pressing matters that further the dynamic field of national security law, including topics relating to foreign affairs, intelligence, homeland security, and national defense. This is Volume 3, Issue 1, released Fall/Winter 2014. In this issue, Lieutenant Colonel Eric Merriam, Assistant Professor of Law at the United States Air Force Academy, analyzes how the laws governing biological weapons apply to non-state actors; Professor Ronald Sievert from the University of Texas School of Law advocates for rewriting the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act; and Christopher Donesa, former Chief Counsel for the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, provides insight into the hotly-debated Section 215 of the USA PATRIOT Act. This issue also contains two notes by Mason students: Stacy Allen analyzes a key case shaping the military’s handling of sexual assault, and Melissa Burgess comments on laws preventing the reimportation of American military firearms.
