About
This book contains English translations of two papers by B. V. Birjukov, a Russian historian of logic. The first, published originally in 1959, comprises a general introduction to the work of Frege, an account of his theory of function and concept, and an assessment of Frege's contributions to mathematical logic and the foundations of mathematics. The second, published originally in 1960, it is an exposition of Frege's theory of sense and reference, with a discussion of extensional logic.
