"Well-documented doctoral thesis written by Ecuadorian expert examines the Latin American contributions to the emergence and development of international maritime law. Discusses the law's application to the Southeastern Pacific region as it was translated in 1952 in the 'Declaration of Santiago' and the creation of the Maritime System of the Southeastern Pacific (SMPSE) by Chile, Ecuador, and Peru.
