by MEGABI MATHEWOS LAMBORE
The researcher is also interested to study the impact of high level of trust on ethical leadership because it has been crucial to have a team with trust in order to execute the deliverables set by the organization addressing the human side of the organization. When there is trust, we can build enthusiastic, united, focused, and visionary team of employees. Trust is more of qualitative so that the research is needed to be undertaken in different organizations and to look quantitatively, the samples were taken from Humanitarian Organizations, Academic Institution, Development Organizations and Consulting firms with senior, middle management and professionals.
The Research purpose will be:
Fostering trust building so that there will be fuller and more effective co-operation and collaboration
Having support from the ethical leader for higher levels of organizational commitment and morale
Increasing attachment of the team in social activities apart from organizational work to boost trust
Recognizing cultural difference in team composition to pursue ethical leadership with respect to trust building
The leader can take the organization strategically to where it can function with fullness leading with trust to fit in the changing environment. Now a day, we need supportive leadership which build trust and manage it in a team. As Gunther H. Schust noted, Supportive leadership is not a management technique but a mental attitude based on anticipation, a holistic approach and team performance. In supportive leadership setting examples, trust and honesty are the keys.
The first step in building trust is for leaders to trust their team. Leaders need to show that they trust other people before they can reasonably expect to be trusted. It is unfair and unreasonable for a leader not to extend trust to people in the team and yet still expect to be trusted themselves. It is the leader’s responsibility to set a positive example to his/her team that the culture and beliefs are based around trust and that the team will only be successful when there is mutual trust. A leader should place great emphasis on creating a trusting environment for his/her team. Trusting others is based on the premise that people are fundamentally good, tell the truth and will try to do their best. All leaders, by their own example of how they behave towards others, are responsible for leading the way and creating a culture of trust (Peter Thatcher).
