Broadchurch TV Series Season 1 and 2 Episode Guide

The Broadchurch TV series lurched wildly between brilliant and baffling over two seasons in the Dorset coastal town that went from dull to deadly in the blink of an eye. The murder of 11-year-old Danny Latimer is the focus of season one with Detective Sergeant Ellie Miller and Detective Inspector Alec Hardy on the case. She is a twitchy local halfwit and he is a job stealing Jock with PTSD and a dicey heart. As they flounder through a memorably incompetent investigation, they uncover a dark underbelly of secrets, lies and betrayals that threaten to tear this tightknit community apart.

Season two deals with the murder trial and Alec's continuing obsession with Sandbrook, the case that broke his brain and brought him to Broadchurch in the first place. Critics said it lost the plot but none of them could tear themselves away. Once Broadchurch got its hooks in you, you were done.
