A Deviation from the Norm: A Pilot's Story

A Deviation from the Norm: A Pilot's Story

by Norm Sanson

2015
About
From shearer to airline pilot, seaplanes and helicopters, this story follows the journey of Captain Norm Sanson through sixty years of adventure in a dozen different countries, mostly in the South Pacific. Tales of encounters with murderers, celebrities and royalty, interwoven with accounts of pioneering characters dating back to the infancy of aviation - and of dreams come true. This unusual tale is not your standard airline pilot's career path.
It is definitely a case of having taken 'the road less travelled by'.
In this entertaining, eventful, illustrated autobiography, Norm spins some excellent yarns. Really, though, it's a book about Oceania, it's magical islands, and the role played by Norm and his planes - especially amphibians. If a sequel to 'Tales of the South Pacific' ever gets written, he'd have to be in it.
Introduction by Alexander Frater, author of 'Beyond the Blue Horizon'
