Aleksander Fredro Polski komediopisarz i poeta żyjący i tworzący w okresie romantyzmu, lecz niezależny od stylu epoki; uczestnik kampanii Napoleona I w Rosji (1812), hrabia (od 1822). Pisał komedie obyczajowe z życia zaściankowej szlachty, tworząc barwne, wyraziste postacie mówiące soczystym, dowcipnym językiem. Nie stronił od wykorzystywania elementów farsowych. Jest też autorem wierszy (np. Małpa w kąpieli, Paweł i Gaweł), poematów, aforyzmów oraz pamiętnika z czasów napoleońskich (Trzy po trzy). Ur. 20 czerwca 1793 r. w Surochowie k.
