Arthur Henry Douthwaite
1896 – 1st September 1974
I remember my grandfather as a very serious but loving person. He was 6ft 7in tall and very slim. He taught me how to grow runner beans, the way to position them in the soil and we planted an oak tree in their garden in West Sussex. I also remember him roaring with laughter at Tom and Jerry and he loved the Soup Dragon in the Clangers!! Not really what you would expect from a Harley Street Physician.
