Harry Joseph Heltman took his undergraduate work at Syracuse University, followed by advanced study at Harvard, Columbia, Ohio State University, and American University. He has served as Professor of Speech at Ot-terbein College, Cazenovia Seminary, Franklin College (Ohio), and as Director of the Syracuse University School of Speech and Dramatic Art. He founded the Syracuse University Speech Clinic and directed its activities for many years.
